Tips on Balloon Sculpturing By Edmund Khong
It’s easy to twist!
• Simple dog (1) and Simple Sword*
Introduction to Full twist/Loop twist
Inflation
Don’t use the mouth to blow; it may hurt your lungs. Use an air pump.
Why doesn’t the balloon burst?
The real reason why balloons don’t burst is because that there is always un-inflated balloon in the “tail”. The more twist you put into the balloon, the more air is being pushed into the “tail”. Hence you can learn to estimate when the balloon will burst and it’s time to reduce the air in the balloon next time you pump it! If there is no more un-inflated balloon, it means that you have reached the limit of twist and you should stop!
Principles of Balloon Twisting
Rules to follow:
1. Always Hold the First and Last Balloon
2. Always twist in a clock – wise direction with your master hand and anti clockwise for your other hand.
Follow the above two rules and you will not find your balloons unraveling. The rules are to be observed throughout the whole twisting and apply to all twists!
Lock Twist or Bubble Twist
To hold bubbles in place we need to lock them up. Only with a minimum of three bubbles can you lock up the bubbles.
A World of Dogs and Puppies!
1. Simple Dog(2)* Sausage Dog* Giraffe* Squirrel* Mouse*
By using the basic doggy form, we can make a variety of animals!
Balloonalogy
For twisting balloons we need 260 balloons.
3 simple rules to follow when storing your balloons!
1. No extreme heat
2. No strong sunlight
3. Minimum exposure to air
Balloons are made of latex (rubber) so their quality will deteriorate with heat and light. A good place to store them is the dark storeroom at home. If you have to keep them for a long time, i.e. More 6 months it is a good idea to put them in the non-freezer compartment of the fridge.
